What does your current role as managing Director involve?

I lead the team at Crime Prevention Services and I am fortunate to be part of a team who share the same passion to deliver the values of the company that myself and the Farrell family have. Daily, I deal with the company finances alongside the Finance Department and I am in regular dialogue with our Installation team. There are of course the final decisions to be made which means often one of the team is at my desk whilst we discuss the situation or decision in hand. I may often have the final say, but I believe there is never just one person responsible for success, I truly believe success comes from people who make up the business. There is a positive buzz in our office, particularly late on a Friday afternoon when many of our field based engineers head back to the office and this gives me a good opportunity to hear first-hand of any improvements or ideas from the engineering team on the ground.

What makes you feel proud of where you work?

I am driven by the fact that we are a family owned award-winning security company. We are very much at the forefront of our industry in offering the complete security package for any client, business or domestic, from design to installation to the ongoing relationship of maintaining and monitoring the system.

We are the only independent security company in Wales with our own in-house NSI Gold Standard Monitoring Station. I truly believe that this is the jewel in our crown and is a great source of pride for me. As well as our clients investing in the best equipment, I believe it is of crucial importance who is looking after that system when it activates. Our experienced Monitoring Station reviews and take immediate action upon alarm and camera activations, alerting key-holders, delivering a live tannoy or possibly alerting the police.

Where do you see the company in five years’ time?

We have plans in place to grow the business over the coming years, through gaining new clients based on our solid reputation and retaining our current client base through excellent service and support as customer service is at the heart of our company ethos.

Our future now has a younger Farrell on-board my son Brad, who aged 21, is currently working out in the field with our installation team. With his attitude and strong work ethic I have no doubt his role and responsibility will develop quickly within the business! Back in 2010 I only had one option and that was to become part of the CPS team alongside my step children Dan and Laura. In the last 7 years the company has gone from strength to strength, and I have no doubt it will continue to do so. Here’s to the next 35 years!
